Chondrus Crispus - The red seaweed Chondrus crispus has been reported to have a wide range of health-promoting activities, such as antitumor and antiviral activities. Seaweeds are rich in bioactive compounds, such as proteins, peptides, amino acids, lipids, fibers, pigments, polyphenols, and polysaccharides that are responsible for imparting various health benefits. β-carotene and lutein were identified as antimutagenic substances in edible red algae, which indicated their potential anticancer activity.
